Boulevard of Broken Taco Shells

I was so excited recently when I came across this article that talked up

a new service available in the Bay Area and looking to expand;

one that you could order tacos from your Smartphone

and have them delivered to your location via drone helicopter.

WHUT!?!

Turns out, it was all a hoax.

Oh, interwebz! You promise me such wonderful things

and then you take them away!

I should have known better, though.

A tacocopter? That's too good to be true.

Too deliciously good.

But, I will say this. If we're going to have

drones buzzing through our urban centers,

I wouldn't mind if a few of those would be dedicated to bringing me

tasty noms a la the silver parachutes in The Hunger Games.

It's gonna be alright

My boss gave me an interesting research and writing assignment, and I've been geeking-out over it ever since. Even though I don't want to spend the rest of my life practicing in this particular field of law, I love the problem-solving aspect of the project, which is universal to every law practice.

Two and a half years into my legal education, a mountain of debt equivalent to the GDP of a small Chinese province, and I'm finally feeling like I'll actually enjoy being a lawyer.

Thank God. I was beginning to panic.

Cray-Cray for Caprica

I've been watching "Caprica," the prequel to "Battlestar Galactica," and had an opportunity to go to a fan preview at Universal Studios earlier this month. They showed an awesome recap of the first season that I've been scouring the Net for ever since.

Greetings and glad tidings! I was told today that I looked beautiful which boosted my confidence and prompted me to make a mental note that daily showering and mascara are good investments. Such is the life of a law student -- my standards of beauty and socially acceptable hygiene are so low after two years that a swipe of lip gloss transforms me back to a mildly attractive human being.

Friday Round-Up

This has been a week from hell, which is why The Daily Special suddenly was not so daily nor special. The effort came back to bite me in the ass this week when I found this little DIY gadget on the interwebz and we both had our heads on the desks crying with silent laughter, trying not to get caught. It's what you get for the guy who has everything...including foreskin.

• Emails From Crazy People is a great site, but I just came across this gem of a "Not A Stalker" letter, and it reminds me a little of Dimitri, the perfect guy and his phone message. These guys know how to charm a lady.

• This Durex commercial was banned in Europe. I just love the squeaky sound effects.

Kurt Cobain Lives on Guitar Hero 5

According to Rolling Stone, Activision has announced that Guitar Hero players will be able to take on the characters of Kurt Cobain, Johnny Cash, Jimi Hendrix, Matt Belamy of Muse, and Shirley Manson in Guitar Hero 5. I'm geeked!

Movie News: Avatar 3D Technology

The geek in me is just drooling over the deets of how James Cameron filmed Avatar. Its success at the box office will likely matter less than the success of the technology.
